Transcription: To make a recording, you press the record button. This pushes the record playhead against the tape, presses the tape between the cap stand and the pinch wheel, and starts the motor. The erase head wipes out any recordings already on the tape. Signals from the microphone cause current to flow in the coils inside the record playhead. This creates a magnetic field. The field changes in intensity, copying the intensity of the sound waves you want to record. The changing field magnetizes the tape, making the recording.
